Rio Las Vegas Sportsbook Review
The sportsbook at Rio Las Vegas received a major renovation in September 2026, giving the space a completely new and modern look. The centerpiece is an impressive wall-to-wall video display, complemented by comfortable seating, a modern bar, and a dedicated area for horse bettors. The sportsbook isn’t especially large or secluded, and it doesn’t have the elaborate VIP atmosphere found at some of Las Vegas’ premier sportsbooks, but the renovation gives it a fresh, contemporary feel. Rio is technically located just off the Strip, but its proximity to the Strip, along with free parking, makes it a convenient option for visitors.
Seating & Layout
The renovated sportsbook has approximately 6-8 couches along with roughly 30-40 individual chairs equipped with cupholders, providing a good mix of seating for both individuals and groups. There is also dedicated desk seating for horse bettors, although the racebook component is relatively modest compared with some of the more race-focused sportsbooks around Las Vegas.
A large, modern oval-shaped bar provides another place to sit and watch games. The overall layout is attractive and comfortable, although the sportsbook remains fairly open to the casino floor rather than feeling like a separate or secluded room.
Screens & Visuals
The new screen setup is one of the strongest features of the renovated sportsbook. A large, wall-to-wall video display provides plenty of big-screen action and gives the space a distinctly modern appearance. It isn’t on the massive scale of some of Las Vegas’ most spectacular sportsbook screens, but the quality and presentation are excellent and represent a significant upgrade for Rio.

The sportsbook itself doesn’t have an obvious dedicated food operation, but there are several convenient choices immediately nearby. A large new Food Hall offers a variety of modern dining options, while Eggslut is located directly next to the sportsbook.
The nearby bar also provides a convenient place to grab a drink while watching games, giving sportsbook visitors plenty of food and beverage choices without having to go far.
Reservations / VIP Information
Rio does not currently offer sportsbook seating reservations through its website. Guests interested in reserving a couch or other seating for a major sporting event would need to contact the hotel directly to inquire about availability and arrangements.
While the sportsbook has couches and comfortable seating, it doesn’t have the elevated, secluded VIP booths or elaborate premium areas found at some of Las Vegas’ more exclusive sportsbooks. It is more of a comfortable, modern open sportsbook than a high-end VIP destination.
Other Notable Features
The sportsbook itself is non-smoking, although smoking is permitted on the casino floor outside the sportsbook. Guests who want to smoke will therefore need to step out of the sportsbook.
Rio’s free parking is another worthwhile perk, particularly for visitors driving in from other parts of the Las Vegas Valley. The property is just off the Strip and provides relatively easy access without the parking costs associated with many Strip properties.
It’s also worth noting how much the renovated sportsbook changes the overall impression of Rio. The property has long been associated with an older, more dated atmosphere, but the new sportsbook and Food Hall give visitors a much more modern experience than they might expect.

The newly renovated Rio sportsbook is a very nice addition to the property, with an impressive wall-to-wall screen, plenty of comfortable seating, a modern bar, and convenient food options nearby. It isn’t especially large, secluded, or focused on premium VIP seating, but the completely refreshed design makes it a comfortable place to watch games and place bets. Combined with free parking and a location just off the Strip, the renovated sportsbook is a worthwhile option for visitors looking for a modern Las Vegas sportsbook without needing the scale or extravagance of the city’s biggest venues.
